As you know, when you are of a different culture, you are often looked at as less than human.
SaskPower decided to cut our gate chain, and enter our property without even honking, or asking us to unlock the gate! It was day-time, and we were here and available. Any other professional company or person honks the horn, just like knocking on a door. We go unlock the gate and professional courtesy is established.
Although the lack of professionalism is disconcerting, this really is not about professionalism! It is plain to see that they could have called and asked to have access to the property. Even though the power has been disconnected to this property for years, SaskPower still has equipment here that they need to check from time to time. Even though they could have called to ask us to unlock the gate, or even just honked so we could unlock the gate, they did neither! SaskPower just cut our chain and entered without even bothering to ask.
Why?
We have livestock and keep our gate closed to keep the livestock from wandering out onto the road. We keep the gate locked, because of negligent people like this, who just enter unannounced and leave the gate open for the animals to escape!
The question is: Why?
Why in non-extenuating circumstances did they do property damage, when there were people here working, and they could have just asked for the gate to be opened? Certainly SaskPower would have some level of professionalism! It must therefore be another reason.
What could that reason be?
All their excuses are moot at this point. Do not forget, we have caught them lying before!
There is really only one reason left!
